Lesser Hajj: One year after closing airspace, 75 Nigerians depart for S/Arabia

Seventy-five Nigerians yesterday departed the country via the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja to perform lesser Hajj, (Umrah) in Saudi Arabia, according to  the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON), Abuja outreach.

This signifies the opening of Saudi Arabian airspace  for Nigerians, after Umrah was banned in February 2020.

It is coming after Saudi Arabia closed its airspace for almost a year, following the outbreak of COVID-19.

The Head of the NAHCON Abuja outreach, Umar M. Kalgo, while confirming the departure, said a total of 75 pilgrims departed Nigeria to Saudi Arabia yesterday.

“50 of them are from Eminista Travels and tours and 25 from Earth travels,” Kaldo added.
